(Rev 1:11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. | John instructed to write this vision in a book and send it to the 7 churches. |
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. | Names of overcomers not blotted out of the book of life. |
Rev 5:1-5 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. [5:2] And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? [5:3] And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. [5:4] And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. | This book, with information on the outside (the book, or scroll, need not be opened to read that part of it) and on the inside (must be opened in order to read it), is sealed with 7 seals. No man is found worthy to open the book, nor even to read it. This book would seem to be the understanding of the Plan of God. |
Rev 5:7-9 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. [5:8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. [5:9] And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; | The lamb of God is declared to be worthy to open and read the book because he was slain. |
Rev 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, | This would seem to refer back to the same book mentioned in chapter 5. This book is now opened, i.e., the seals have been broken and the book may now be read (understood.) Again, this book would seem to be the Plan of God. |
Rev 10:8-10 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. [10:9] And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. [10:10] And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. | The Lord's people take the understanding of His Plan (the little book which is now open) and apporpriate it to themselves (making the truth their own – 1 Thes. 5:21.) These truths are indeed wonderful, as sweet as honey! To find the bitter belly all we have to do is to tell others of these wonderful things and see how quickly they reject them and consider us to be strange, rejecting us from their company. |
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. | From another study of the earth-dwellers of Revelation we come to the clear conclusion that these are NOT of the Little Flock. These do not have their names written in this book. Who does? Those who follow the lamb withersoever he goest (Rev. 14:4). It would seem that those written in the Lamb's book of life are the Little Flock. |
Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. | Once again we are tole that the "earth dwellers" are NOT written in the book of life. This book of life is declared to be "from the foundation of the world." This is the same language used in the Rev. 13:8 reference. There it clearly spoke of the Lamb's book of life. |
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. | Since it does not say "The Lamb's book of life" (which seems to be exclusively for the Little Flock,) we conclude that this is the more general book of life that applies to mankind. |
Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Rev 22:7, 9-10 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. [22:9] Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. [22:10] And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
Rev 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: [22:19] And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. |
