1 And Moses called together all the assembly of the sons of Israel, and said unto them,–These, are the things which Yahweh hath commanded, to do them.
2 Six days, shall work be done, but, on the seventh day, shall there be to you a holy sabbath-keeping, unto Yahweh,–whosoever doeth work therein, shall be put to death. A sabbath of rest – Type of the Millennial age. R5071:6; B40; Q607:4

Doeth work therein – It does not say to cease from ordinary work and engage in religious work; but prohibits all kinds of work. R1727:1


3 Ye shall not kindle a fire, in any of your dwellings,–on the sabbath day. No fire – In the way of cooking. R1727:1, R971:5

4 And Moses spake unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, saying,–This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, saying,–
5 Take ye from among you, a heave-offering to Yahweh, every one whose heart is willing, shall bring it in, even the heave-offering of Yahweh,–gold and silver, and bronze; Gold – Representing the divine nature. T18, T20

And silver – Symbol of truth. T114

And brass – Copper, symbol of perfect human nature. T18


6 and blue and purple, and crimson, and fine linen and goat's-hair; And blue – Symbol of faithfulness. T30

And purple – Symbol of royalty. T34

And scarlet – Symbol of the blood of the ransom. T34, T109

And fine linen – Symbol of righteousness. T29, T30, T36


7 and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and acacia wood; And badgers' skins – As God covered the Tabernacle with unsightly skins, so the glories and beauties of spiritual things are seen only by the Royal Priesthood. T127

8 and oil for giving light,–and aromatic spices for the anointing oil, and for fragrant incense; And oil – Symbolic of the holy Spirit. T29, T37, T116; D650; R5654:5

9 and onyx stones, and setting stones,–for the ephod, and for the breastpiece. Stones to be set – The Lord's jewels, his "Little Flock." T36

For the ephod – Type of the Abrahamic covenant (front part) and the New covenant (back part). T30

For the breastplate – Type of the Law. T34


10 And, all the wise-hearted among you, shall come in, that they may make, all that which Yahweh hath commanded:–
11 the habitation, its tent, and its covering,–its clasps, its boards, and its bars, its pillars, and its sockets;
12 the ark with its staves, the propitiatory,–and the screening veil; The ark – It represents the eternal purpose of God for mankind in The Christ, Head and Body. T121

With the mercy seat – The Mercy Seat, glory-light and cherubim together represented Jehovah God. T123

The vail of the covering – The passing of the second veil represented the death of the human body. T21


13 the table with its staves, and all its utensils, and the Presence-bread; The table – Representing the Church as a whole, holding forth the word of life. T115

And the shewbread – Representing the truth, the word of life. T22, T115; R5418:5


14 the lampstand for giving light, with its utensils, and its lamps,–and the oil for giving light; The candlestick – Representing the entire Church, the true light-bearers. T116

For the light – Representing holy enlightenment, the spirit of truth. T116; R5418:5, R5621:6

With the oil – Symbolic of the holy spirit. T29, T37, T116; D650; R5654:5


15 and the incense altar, with its staves, and the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense,–and the entrance screen, for the entrance of the habitation; The incense altar – The Golden altar in the Holy represents the Church in the sacrificing condition. T120

Representing the privileges of worship and prayer. R5418:5

The sweet incense – The sweet incense beaten small represented the perfection of the man Jesus. When the perfection of his being (incense) came in contact with the trials of life (fire), he yielded perfect obedience to the divine will-a sweet perfume. T56, T120

Hanging for the door – Symbol of the death of the human will. T21


16 the altar for the ascending-sacrifice, and the bronze grating which pertaineth thereto, its staves, and all its utensils,–the laver, and its stand; Altar of burnt offering – Representing Christ's ransom sacrifice. T22

17 the hangings for the court, its pillars, and its sockets,–and the screen for the gate of the court; Hangings of the court – Representing to those within, a wall of faith; but to those without, a wall of unbelief which hindered their view of and access to the holy things within. T18

The door of the court – "I am the way," "I am the door." There is only one way of access to God. T18

The way out of unbelief and sin. T22


18 the pins of the habitation, and the pins of the court, and their cords;
19 the cloths of variegated stuff, for ministering in the sanctuary,–the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for ministering as priests.

20 So all the assembly of the sons of Israel went forth from the presence of Moses;
21 and they brought in–every man whose heart lifted him up,–and, every one whose spirit made him willing, brought in the heave-offering of Yahweh, for the construction of the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments.
22 Yea they brought in–the men with the women,–all who were willing-hearted, brought in–bracelets and nose-ornaments, and rings, and buckles, all manner of jewels of gold, even every man who waved a wave-offering of gold unto Yahweh.
23 And, every man with whom was found–blue and purple and crimson, and fine linen and goat's-hair,–and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, brought them in.
24 Every one who would heave a heave-offering of silver, or bronze, brought in the heave-offering of Yahweh,–and, every one with whom was found acacia wood, for any construction for the service, brought it in.
25 And, all the women who were wise-hearted, with their hands, did spin,–and brought in that which they had spun–the blue, and the purple, the crimson, and the fine linen.
26 And, all the women whose hearts lifted them up with wisdom, span the goat's-hair.
27 And, the princes, brought in the onyx stones and the setting stones,–for the ephod, and for the breastpiece;
28 and the aromatic spices, and the oil,–for giving light, and for anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense.
29 [In the case of], every male and woman, whose heart made them willing, to bring in for any construction which Yahweh had commanded them to make, by the hand of Moses, [in their case] did the sons of Israel bring in a free-will offering unto Yahweh.

30 And Moses said unto the sons of Israel–See! Yahweh hath called by name,–Bezaleel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
31 and filled him with the spirit of God,–in, wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge, and in all manner of execution; With the spirit of God – Fecundated their minds, energizing natural faculties without affecting them in any moral sense. E175

32 to devise skilful designs,–to work in gold and in silver, and in bronze;
33 and in the cutting of stones for setting, and in the cutting of wood,–to work in any manner of skilful workmanship.
34 To teach also, hath he put in his heart, [the heart of] him, and of Oholiab–son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan;
35 hath filled them with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of workmanship–of cutter, and deviser, and embroiderer, in blue and in purple, in crimson and in fine linen, and of the weaver,–workers of any manner of workmanship, and devisers of skilful designs.
