Pour out thine indignation – The wrath of God.
Upon them – The Jews (especially the Jewish church-nation). This fits with him casting them off in 33 A.D. This Psalm indicates the thoughts of Jesus. (Note vs 21)
This was answered in the terrible slaughter that took place in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and finds its parallel in 'The Great War' of 1914. |
| 25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. |
Some feel this has reference to Judas. The verses in this context all refer to the treatment of Jesus.
Note the following two Hebrew words and their usage.
Him whom thou has smitten – Strong's H5221 "to strike."
Wounded – Strong's H2491 "pierced."
Compare with Isa. 53:4,5 ".. we did esteem him [Jesus] stricken, smitten [H5221] of God.. He was wounded [H2490] for our transgressions." |
| 26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. |

Let them be blotted out of the book of the living – If this is indeed a reference to Judas it would certainly fit. "Good were it for that man if he had never been born." Mark 14:21; Matt. 26:24 |
