SHEOL, HADES.
- Sheol. "The Hebrew word Sheol occurs 65 times in the Old Testament Scriptures. It is 3 times translated pit, 31 times translated grave, and 31 times translated hell." "Oblivion, a better translation." E 375, 354.
- Jacob's relation to sheol: "I will go down into the grave [sheol] unto my son mourning," Gen. 37:35; E 376, 355.
- "Ye shall bring my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave [sheol]," Gen. 42:38; E 376, 355.
- Korah, Dathan and Abiram went to sheol: "They...went down alive into the pit [sheol, oblivion]," Num. 16:33; E 377, 356.
- Job's desire: "Oh, that thou wouldst hide me in the grave [sheol, oblivion]!" Job 14:13; E 380, 359.
