1 Sing to Yahweh, a song that is new, Sing to Yahweh, all the earth; O sing unto the LORD – The judgment day, instead of being a time of terror, distress and sorrow, is represented in the Scriptures as being a special time of joy and gladness for the world. Q853:4; HG273:5

2 Sing to Yahweh, bless ye his Name,–Tell the tidings, from day to day, of his salvation:
3 Recount, Among the nations, his glory, Among all the peoples, his wonders.
4 For great is Yahweh, and worthy to be mightily praised, To be revered is he above all gods; Above all gods – Elohim, mighty ones--a name applied to Jehovah. E68

5 For, all the gods of the peoples, are things of nought–But, Yahweh, made, the heavens. Are idols – Septuagint: demons. So Romish nations stand under demoniacal tutelage, just as did the Gentiles of old. R1991:5

6 Praise and majesty, are before him, Strength and beauty, are in his sanctuary.
7 Give to Yahweh, ye families of the peoples, Give to Yahweh, glory and strength;
8 Give to Yahweh, the glory of his Name, Bring a present, and enter his courts;
9 Bow down to Yahweh, in the adornment of holiness, Be in anguish at his presence, all the earth! Worship the LORD – The worship of the one true God is elevating and ennobling, and calculated to develop in us the moral likeness of God. R1836:1

Beauty of holiness – In the spirit of the truth. R1836:1


10 Say among the nations, Yahweh, hath become King, Surely he hath fixed the world, it shall not be shaken, He will judge the peoples with equity. Among the heathen – It is the privilege of the saints to tell the glad tidings to all who will hear. R5989:2

The LORD reigneth – Blessing not only the living, but also those who have fallen asleep in death. R5706:4

Judge the people – The saints are to be judges with Christ. R5776:2


11 Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth exult, Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Heavens ... earth – Not only the saints, but the whole earth. R5989:2

12 Let the field, leap for joy, and all that is therein, Then, shall all the trees of the forest, shout in triumph, Field be joyful – Prefigured by the High Priest, when he lifted up his hands and blessed the people. R1248:4

"The whole earth is at rest and is quiet; they break forth into singing." (Isa. 14:7) R1248:5

Trees of the wood – "The trees of the field (the people) shall clap their hands." (Isa. 55:12) R1024:4


13 Before Yahweh, for he is coming, For he is coming to judge the earth,–He will judge the world, in righteousness, And the peoples, in his faithfulness. For he cometh – When he appears, day appears, life appears, fruitfulness appears; the curse departs; difficulties, wars, troubles, sorrows vanish; it is the world's Jubilee. R302:3*

He who so loved us as to give his life for our ransom comes again to reign. R1352:2

To judge the world – The object of the second coming of Christ is to bless all the families of the earth. HG315:4

Rewarding with restored perfection the willing and worthy, and cutting off from life forever all wilful sinners. R1073:4

With righteousness – Swift and unerring justice. D519
