The word "dwell" as used in the New Testament carries with it more than just the concept of living in a place. Rather it signifies a permanent residence.
In our comments we will simply call them "earth dwellers."
|Rev. 3:10 (KJV) Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.||Here the earth dwellers are the ones who are especially susceptible to the trial of the hour of temptation.|
|Rev. 6:10 (KJV) And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?||The earth dwellers are the ones who are to be the recipients of the Lord's vengeance. See also Rev. 16:1,2.|
|Rev 8:13 (KJV) And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!||The earth-dwellers are the recipients of the three woes.|
|Rev. 11:10 (KJV) And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.||The earth dwellers are tormented by the two prophets (old and new testaments). When, at the end of the French Revolution, the end of the 1260 years, the earth dwellers rejoice because the bible is not exalted.|
|Rev. 12:12 (KJV) Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.||Here the earth dwellers are contrasted with those who dwell in heaven as well as those who dwell in the sea. Both the earth dwellers and the sea dwellers feel the wrath of the dragon (Roman civil power) during the time when Papacy has gained the upper hand (539-1799).|
|Rev. 13:8 (KJV) And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.||The earth dwellers worship the (Papal) beast.|
|Rev. 13:12 (KJV) And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.||Earth dellers are contrasted (and yet associated) with the earth. Both worship the Papal beast.|
|Rev. 13:14 (KJV) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.||The two-horned beast deceives the earth dwellers and tells them to make an image to the Papal beast.|
|Rev. 14:6 (KJV) And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,||An angel [Pastor Russell?] goes through the nominal heavens and preaches the truth to five groups, the first of which is the earth dwellers.|
|Rev 17:2 (KJV) With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.||Inhabitants of the earth are the ones who are made drunk by the belief this union of church and state really is "Christendom," Christ's Kingdom.|
|Rev. 17:8 (KJV) The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.||It would appear that the earth dwellers are among those who do not have their names written in the book of life. They "behold" the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit and wonder (or marvel) at it.|
|Luke 21:35 (KJV) For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.||The Day of the Lord comes as a snare on the earth dwellers.|
This sounds like a group of Protestants who are not well grounded in the principles of truth. They are not especially fond of Bible study but they do like the security of being told they have a one way ticket to heaven (this is why they are dwelling on the earth – organized society under religious restraint – R498.)
