Character Development

Where this study differs with the book

There are differences between the book published by Chicago Bible Students and what we have on this site. While these differences are minor, we, nevertheless, feel the responsibility to let our readers know from where these differences come.

First, there are only differences in references. Both the book and this site have taken this study from the Berean Study Lessons as presented in the original Towers from March 1905 through October 1906.

During our original formatting of the Reprints we have attempted to have this site linked to all the references that showed up in the text. This is still our goal. However, when we came to these Berean Studies the task of locating all the various references seemed so great that we decided to skip the Tower and Scripture Studies references made within those studies.

Then we received the Character Development book as a gift. When we saw that it was the same references as in the Towers it became clear that we now had the very references needed that we had decided to skip before. We therefore owe a debt of gratitude to our brethren in the Chicago Bible Students ecclesia who worked on this book.

For the most part we used the book in order to locate the specific paragraphs that were being referred to in the Berean Studies. However it soon became apparent that not all the references in the book matched up to those in the Towers. At the time of writing this notice (Dec. 20, 2005) there are only a few differences. We do have access to the original Towers from 1895 through 1916 and intend to go back over the references, checking them against those Towers to be sure of the accuracy of the references. When differences are found, we will post them on this page.

As the brethren in the Chicago Bible Students ecclesia have access to the original printing of Volume 5 - The Atonement Between God and Man, and those page numbers are different than those of the current printing, we must accept those references exactly as they appear in the book.

Once we have located all the differences, it is our intention to inform the Chicago Bible Students of those differences so they may make the necessary changes to the book should they decide to have another printing.

Yours in the Service of our Redeemer,

site Editor.
